MECHANICAL ENGINEER

FULL-TIME  |  SEATTLE, WA

Do you have a real aptitude for creating new things? Are you always looking for a better way to do something? Would you like to work on interesting problems that require novel solutions? STRIVE is looking for a driven, versatile and innovative engineer to help create and carry forward new products.  You would work as part of a small, fast-moving team building products on the leading edge of wearable technology.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work with a small team to improve existing products and develop new wearables
  • Design, build, and validate novel form-factor prototypes and then progress them into production
  • Test and measure performance of prototype designs
  • Produce test reports to show design improvements to stakeholders
  • Establish and refine product design process, best practices, and/or tools for the organization
  • Evaluate, develop, and select new materials, processes, technologies, and techniques
  • Interface with vendors and manufacturers to find solutions, as well as produce prototypes and final products
  • Create processes and documentation for handing off between the engineering and operations/production team
  • Other duties as required


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 plus years of experience in mechanical design and product development
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD – Fusion 360 (preferred), Solidworks, etc.
  • Good understanding and use of principals, theories and concepts in mechanical engineering and product development
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentations) and problem solving skills
  • Ability to envision, design, assemble and test prototypes and fixtures
  • Ability to work in a cross functional and dynamic environment with aggressive timelines and rapidly evolving requirements
  • Experience with design and development of consumer electronics
  • Experience with various prototyping and manufacturing techniques (laser cutting, machining, 3D printing, injection molding, casting, soft goods etc.)
  • Experience in failure analysis (both hands-on and analyzing data)
  • Hands-on use of standard shop tools (hand tools, grinders, dremels, drills, etc)
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with biometric sensors
  • Experience designing or working with wearable devices and soft goods
  • Design experience with injection molded parts
  • Experience with electromechanical systems 
  • Hands-on use of laser cutters, 3d printers and CNC machining
  • Hands-on soldering experience
  • Active involvement in sports, working out or outdoor activities


Must be local to the Seattle Metro area and available to work at Strive HQ in Bothell as needed.
