NFL MANDATES LOAD MANAGEMENT WEARABLES
At this year’s annual league meeting in March, the NFL passed a resolution mandating the use of wearable devices to track players’ load management during preseason practices for all 32 NFL teams. The collected data will be anonymized and aggregated for review for player health and safety initiatives.
With the NFL moving to a 17-game schedule for the first time in its history, it’s more important than ever for teams to have a complete understanding of their players’ muscle movement and exertion during training and practices to manage injury risk. Numerous NFL teams, including the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs, are already using the STRIVE Performance System to track players’ load management in all applied settings.
STRIVE’s world-leading electromyography (EMG) technology enables elite athletes to monitor the muscle activation of their hamstrings, glutes and quadriceps. Through proprietary algorithms and sensors that seamlessly integrate into compression clothing, the STRIVE Performance Systems delivers the most accurate and actionable data that enables the team’s performance coaches and training staff to monitor and analyze players’ muscle load, movement and utilization. As a result, they are better equipped to understand their players’ muscle performance and fatigue, empowering them to optimize training schedules, help mitigate injuries, assist with return-to-play regimens and improve game performance during the longer NFL season.
“The world of human performance, if I was going to peel it like an onion, it started with GPS, pedometers, trackers. Then we move towards the heart rate and understanding internal load. Now, the next layer of the onion is the muscles,” STRIVE CEO and founder Nikola Mrvaljevic recently told Robert Kidd of Forbes following the unveiling of STRIVE’s next-generation muscle performance data platform for elite athletes and teams.

Spellman Performance, America’s elite speed performance institution, recently partnered with STRIVE to give its NFL draft prospect clients access to data-driven insights about their muscle activity in advance of the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine. The NFL Scouting Combine offers all 32 NFL teams a chance to examine the top prospects in one place. With this partnership, Spellman Performance incorporated insights from STRIVE’s cutting-edge muscle performance data platform into training regimens to help draft prospects achieve and maintain peak performance.
